CAT VACCINATIONS & WELLNESS CARE

CAT VACCINATIONS
WHY REGULAR VISITS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

KITTENS
Maternal antibodies decline over a few months and can neutralise vaccines, which is why kittens follow a staged vaccine protocol, typically at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks.During your kitten’s check-up, we will discuss important preventative health care and they will receive their first complete physical examination. Kittens will be checked for overall health and possible birth defects or genetic conditions.

ADULT CATS
Immunity declines over time. Annual boosters with each wellness exam provide the best long-term protection. Cats are masters at disguising illnesses. During their adult life, regular visits are important to maintain health and detect early clinical signs of disease.

SENIORS
From around seven years old, cats can face age-related concerns. Routine visits help us detect issues such as kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, arthritis, or dental problems early, when they’re easier to manage. With ongoing monitoring and tailored advice, we can keep your senior cat comfortable and support a longer, healthier life.
OUR CAT CHECK-UP INCLUDES
Includes eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, skin and coat, weight, body condition, and mobility concerns. As well as a heart and lung assessment, to check for heart murmurs or respiratory abnormalities.
Tailored recommendations for worms, fleas, and cat-specific vaccine protocols.
Your vet will make recommendations for your cat’s future care, to ensure your pet remains in the best condition. This may include recommendations for further diagnostics, prescription of medications or alterations to your at-home care.

CORE VACCINATIONS FOR CATS
We protect against the most common and dangerous feline diseases with our core vaccine program:
Feline Panleukopenia (Distemper): A highly contagious virus that attacks the blood cells, gut, and immune system. It can cause severe vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, and be life-threatening.
Feline Herpesvirus (Rhinotracheitis): Causes sneezing, eye/nose discharge, ulcers, and can lead to chronic respiratory problems.
Feline Calicivirus: A major cause of upper respiratory disease, causing ulcers in the mouth, sneezing, nasal discharge, and sometimes more serious complications.
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV): A virus that suppresses the immune system, leading to cancers and secondary infections. Often fatal. (FeLV vaccination may be recommended based on risk.)
Rabies: Where required by law or in high-risk areas, we vaccinate against rabies to protect both your cat and the community.
Keeping your cat’s vaccinations up to date is one of the best ways to prevent infection and serious illness.
BEYOND VACCINES: YEAR-ROUND PROTECTION
Parasite Prevention
We provide year-round protection against internal and external parasites:
Heartworm & Lungworm: Cats can be exposed via mosquitoes or snails. Preventive treatments are available and far safer than treating an infection.
Flea & Tick Control: Long-acting or monthly spot-ons, tablets, or injectables protect against fleas, ticks, and the diseases they carry.
Intestinal Worming: Regular worming prevents roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms, especially important for kittens, outdoor cats, and hunters.
Annual Health Checks
A yearly vet check helps keep your cat healthy at every life stage. During the visit, we:
Examine heart, lungs, skin, eyes, teeth, and weight
Review diet, lifestyle, and behaviour
Run tests (blood, urine, faecal) to detect hidden illness early
Assess dental health and provide weight management advice
Regular health checks allow us to catch problems early and tailor care as your cat ages.
